Salalah: Iraqi Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi discussed with his Omani counterpart, Saeed bin Hamoud Al-Maawali, in the city of Salalah, ways to develop transport and logistics infrastructure and mechanisms to enhance integration between ports and airports, in order to strengthen the position of Iraq and Oman as pivotal hubs in regional and international trade.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Transport stated in a press release that the talks also covered prospects for cooperation in the fields of digital transformation and modern communication applications, as key drivers of economic growth and facilitators of smooth transport and logistics operations. The discussions further addressed the opening of direct air routes between Baghdad and Muscat to facilitate passenger movement and support trade and tourism exchange between the two countries.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the two ministers conducted a field tour of Salalah Port, which included the power generation station, operational facilities, the control tower, and the free zone with its internal offices and customs clearance services. Both sides emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise in the field of ports and transport-related infrastructure development.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Saadawi arrived in Salalah last Saturday at the head of a high-level ministerial delegation to participate in the ‘Gulf Forum for Green Mobility’ and hold bilateral talks with the Omani side.
