Iraqi and Peshmerga Forces Prepared for Future Threats, Says Barzani


Baghdad:Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani expressed confidence in the readiness of both Iraqi forces and the Peshmerga to address any potential threats, following the conclusion of the International Coalition’s mission.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Barzani made these remarks during a speech on “Sovereignty Day,” where he acknowledged the support provided by the United States and its allies in defeating ISIS. He highlighted that this assistance has strengthened the capabilities of the Peshmerga and helped protect both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Barzani further clarified that the end of the Coalition forces’ mission does not mean a cessation of relations with these countries. Instead, he indicated that the relationship will continue to evolve in a new direction. He reiterated the full preparedness of Iraqi forces and the Peshmerga to face any future attacks or threats that may arise.
