Beirut: Our national athletics team won two new gold medals and two bronze medals at the conclusion of the West Asian Youth Championships, which were hosted by the Lebanese capital, Beirut, over four consecutive days. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Narjes Hussein captured the gold medal in the 1,500m race, showcasing her prowess on the track. Meanwhile, Ahmed Firas added another gold to the tally by emerging victorious in the decathlon. The team also secured a bronze medal in the discus throw, thanks to the efforts of Bint Al-Huda Ibrahim. The second bronze medal was earned by the 4 x 400m relay team, comprised of Mohammed Sadiq Wissam, Khaled Abbas, Karrar Zaman, and Abdulrahman Khaled. This impressive performance brings the national team's total to 23 medals: six gold, six silver, and eleven bronze. The team concluded the competition with a strong presence, marking a significant achievement in the regional athletics arena.
