Baghdad: The Iraqi Drilling Company has initiated the drilling of the second well as part of its 17-well project in the East Baghdad South field. This marks a significant step forward in the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance oil production capabilities in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the technical and engineering team has begun work on the second directional well, labeled EBST-32-4H, with the use of drilling rig IDC-36. This endeavor follows the successful completion of the first well in the project. The drilling operation is being conducted for the Chinese company, EBS, which is overseeing the broader development project.

The company’s media office released a statement detailing that the well’s planned depth is 4,000 meters. It also highlighted that the well has an inclination angle reaching up to 90 degrees, aimed at accessing the Tanuma formation, as specified in the project’s technical program.

The statement further explained that the drilling of the second well is a critical component of the company’s strategy to meet its contractual obligations. This ongoing project is anticipated to play a crucial role in bolstering oil operations and development within the East Baghdad South field.
