Tripoli:DNA tests have been conducted on 18 bodies suspected to be Iraqi nationals, as announced by Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Libya.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the testing is being carried out in coordination with the Libyan Red Crescent. The embassy is working closely with Libyan security authorities to ensure accurate identification.
Al-Sahhaf highlighted that the bodies were discovered drowned in the Mediterranean Sea off the Libyan coast. Efforts are ongoing to investigate the fate of other Iraqi migrants who attempted to migrate illegally through Libya toward Europe, with a focus on obtaining official and reliable results through DNA matching.
