Ankara: The Iraqi Embassy in Ankara held a ceremony today to mark the eighth anniversary of the declaration of victory over the ISIS terrorist group. The event was attended by Ambassador Majid Al-Lajmawi, embassy staff, and representatives from the military, commercial, and cultural attach©s.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Embassy stated in a press release: "The ceremony began with the playing of the Iraqi national anthem and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah in remembrance of the martyrs whose sacrifices made this great victory possible." This was followed by a speech from Ambassador Majid Al-Lajmawi, who affirmed that Victory Day represents a shining milestone in the history of modern Iraq and an enduring memory of the sacrifices made by the members of the armed forces in all their branches, who demonstrated the most magnificent examples of courage and selflessness in defense of the homeland and its unity.

Ambassador Al-Lajmawi added: "As Iraq continues its path of reconstruction and consolidating stability, it draws upon those acts of heroism that preserved the state and its security." He emphasized the Embassy's commitment to strengthening Iraqi-Turkish relations and serving the Iraqi community, drawing strength and determination from the spirit of victory to give even more.

The Iraqi military attach© in Ankara, Major General Khalil Kamal Al-Zubaidi, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the immense sacrifices made by the armed forces in the liberation battles, emphasizing that the victory achieved was a result of the unity and solidarity of the Iraqi people in confronting terrorism. He stated that the memory of this victory will remain a driving force for further efforts to protect Iraq's security and stability.
