Iraqi Football Association Moves Diyala Sports Club’s Home Matches Due to Poor Pitch Conditions

Baghdad: The Competitions Committee of the Iraqi Football Association has made a significant decision affecting Diyala Sports Club’s upcoming matches. The Orange team will be required to play its home games at the stadiums of opposing teams from the fifth to the thirteenth round of the first stage of the Iraqi Stars League for the 2026-2027 season. This measure will remain in place until the qualification process is completed.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the decision was driven by the unsuitable condition of Diyala Sports Club’s home pitch. The committee based its ruling on Articles 10, 11, and 67 of the Competitions Regulations, citing concerns over the field’s poor state and its lack of suitability for hosting matches.

The Iraqi Football Federation has assured that Diyala Sports Club will be allowed to play at its home ground again once the necessary rehabilitation and renovation work has been completed. The stadium’s condition will be reassessed by the Licensing Department to ensure it meets the required standards before any matches can be held there.
