Baghdad:Lieutenant General Dr. Saad Maan, head of the Security Media Cell, emphasized that September 30 marks a key milestone for Iraq, signifying a transition to full sovereignty and showcasing the capability of Iraqi security forces to manage national security independently.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Maan stated that Iraq’s security and military institutions are now fully equipped to conduct operations by land, air, and sea, following the conclusion of the international coalition’s mission on September 30.

He noted the support received from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali al-Zaidi, which includes directives to enhance security planning and improve weapons and equipment through international suppliers. This support has notably advanced Iraq’s air defense and air force capabilities.

Maan affirmed that with the coalition’s mission ending, the Iraqi state solely holds authority over security and military decisions. He also highlighted Iraq’s adoption of ‘preventive sovereignty,’ ensuring its territory is not used for launching attacks against other nations and that armed groups operate within state authority.

He described recent measures, such as the handover of the Bashiqa-Zelikan military base and extending state control in Sinjar, as strategic achievements that bolster Iraq’s national sovereignty.
