New York:Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi announced the government’s commitment to restructuring Iraq’s fiscal policy.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Zaidi met with Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and his delegation in New York. The meeting focused on the global economic situation and its effects on the region, including market impacts, price fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, and inflation. Discussions also touched on energy consumption and oil prices.

The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s plan to expand automation systems and shift to a program-and-performance-based budget as part of the 2027 budget project. This initiative aims to strengthen Iraq’s fiscal framework.

IMF’s Jihad Azour expressed the organization’s readiness to support Iraq in its economic and financial reforms, contributing to the country’s financial and economic stability.
