Iraqi Journalists Syndicate Investigates Assault on Journalist Safaa al-Ghanimi


Babylon: The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate is actively investigating the assault on journalist Safaa al-Ghanimi in Babylon Governorate.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Babylon branch of the Syndicate is operating under the direct supervision of Moayad al-Lami, the Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and President of the Arab Journalists Union. The branch is closely monitoring the situation following the attack on al-Ghanimi.



The branch head immediately initiated contact and coordinated with journalists from the Babylon Governor’s Media Office and the Government Media and Communications Department at the Diwan to delve into the details of the incident. The branch head also visited Hillah Surgical Hospital to review the medical care provided to al-Ghanimi, ensuring his recovery and discharge. Following this, they reached out to Babylon Governor Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi, who condemned the assault.



Governor Al-Dulaimi has ordered the creation of an investigative committee to explore the circumstances surrounding the incident and to hold those accountable. They have committed to addressing all related issues comprehensively. The governor expressed his full support for the journalistic community in Babylon, acknowledging its crucial role in spotlighting significant issues, whether positive or needing rectification.



Youssef Abdul Aoun Al-Jamal, the Head of the Babylon Journalists Syndicate branch, commended the governor’s swift action to address the situation. He reiterated the dedication of Babylon’s journalistic community to professional and impartial news reporting. Al-Jamal noted the exemplary relationship between the executive and journalistic branches in the province, affirming the syndicate’s support for local government efforts to provide optimal services to the populace.
