Baghdad: The Iraqi Jurists Union and Parliament have jointly emphasized the need to amend the Iraqi Jurists Union Law to better align with contemporary requirements. This call for legislative changes was highlighted in a meeting attended by the head of the Iraqi Jurists Union, lawyer Qasim Ta’ma Jawda, and Member of Parliament Safia al-Jizani, who also serves as a member of the Council of Representatives.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting took place at the Union’s headquarters in Baghdad and included several members of the office. The key focus was on revising the existing law governing the Union to better address current challenges, serve the institution and its legal professionals, and enhance the Union’s ability to fulfill its legal and human rights obligations.

The discussions also underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration with the legislative branch. This cooperation aims to foster the development of legislation pertinent to legal and human rights issues, thereby advancing the public interest and supporting the pursuit of justice and the rule of law.

At the meeting’s conclusion, Qasim Ta’ma Jawda expressed appreciation for MP Safia al-Jizani’s visit and her commitment to legal and human rights matters, wishing her continued success in her legislative and national responsibilities.
