Baghdad: The Iraqi House of Manuscripts has proposed the establishment of a comprehensive national database for manuscripts, archives, and documents in Iraq. The aim is to unify preservation and digitization efforts, safeguard the country's historical memory, and make it available for research and academic purposes.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director General of the House, Ahmed Karim Al-Ulayawi, explained: "The proposal includes forming a working group comprised of representatives from ministries, governmental bodies, and private entities. This group would be responsible for inventorying, photographing, and digitally archiving Iraqi manuscripts, documents, and archives, and classifying them by subject and chronological order. This will contribute to the creation of a comprehensive national database that serves researchers and academic institutions."

During a scientific seminar organized by the Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies at the National Security Advisory, in cooperation with the Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) Center for Manuscript Restoration and Research, Al-Ulayawi pointed out that "the Iraqi Manuscript House, affiliated with the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage in the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, has implemented specialized projects over the past four years in the preservation, maintenance, restoration and archiving of manuscripts and documents," emphasizing the House's readiness to provide technical support and training for specialized personnel to ensure the success of the proposed project.
