Baghdad: The establishment of the Iraqi National Civil Gathering was announced today in the capital, Baghdad. This initiative includes national political parties, figures, tribal sheikhs, competencies, and political activists.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the head of the gathering, Iyad Allawi, stated that the gathering aims to be a comprehensive framework for those who believe in building a state of law and institutions based on justice and equality, while respecting human rights and ensuring equal opportunities for all.

Allawi emphasized that the gathering represents a national will seeking reform and change within the framework of the law and constitution. It aims to build accomplished institutions and consolidate the principles of true democracy. He called on the people of Iraq to unite in transforming this national project into a reality that achieves the aspirations of the people for security, justice, and sustainable development.

Allawi further stated that the gathering’s goal is to unify national efforts to build a strong and stable Iraq, open to the world, and built on the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary. He noted the importance of avoiding quotas, regionalism, or foreign interference, and stressed the need for a national project that lays the foundations for a democratic civil state that protects citizens’ rights and restores trust between the people and state institutions.
