Baghdad: The Iraqi Parliament adjourned its session today, Monday, until next Wednesday, following the completion of several important legislative readings. Among the notable items on the agenda was the first reading of the draft law concerning Iraq’s accession to the Framework Agreement for the Establishment of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) of 2016.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Parliament’s Media Office issued a statement detailing the session’s proceedings. The statement confirmed that the Parliament completed the first reading of the draft law amending the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. (50) of 2017. This draft law represents a significant focus on legislative reform in addressing narcotics issues within the country.

The session also included the first reading of the draft Arbitration Law and the draft law ratifying the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation. These legislative efforts are viewed as crucial steps in enhancing Iraq’s legal framework and international cooperation.

Additionally, the Parliament addressed the first reading of the draft law amending the Industrial Investment Law for the Private and Mixed Sectors No. (20) of 1998. This legislative move is aimed at fostering investment and development within Iraq’s industrial sectors, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to economic reform.
