Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, has taken decisive action by dismissing the commanders of two Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) brigades following a troubling attack on a government office in Baghdad. This move comes as part of efforts to address the repercussions of the attack that occurred on July 27.

According to Nam News Network, a committee tasked with investigating the incident found that armed elements from Kataib Hezbollah, linked to the PMF’s 45th and 46th Brigades, were responsible. Sabah al-Numan, the spokesperson for the commander-in-chief of the Iraqi forces—a role also held by al-Sudani—stated that these elements acted independently, without orders or authorizations, and used weapons against security personnel.

The attack resulted in casualties among both security forces and civilians, prompting the Prime Minister to refer those involved to the judiciary for further action. This decision underscores the Iraqi government’s commitment to maintaining order and ensuring accountability within its ranks.
