BAGHDAD: Independent Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman has issued a stern warning about the risks of Iraq being pulled into a conflict with the Zionist entity, highlighting the potential severe consequences on the nation’s security and economy. Othman’s comments came during a statement made to the Iraqi National News Agency (NINA), where he expressed concerns about ongoing hostilities conducted by some Iraqi armed factions.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Othman emphasized the critical nature of the situation, stating, “The continuation of some Iraqi armed factions in striking the Zionist areas will have influential consequences on Iraq in all aspects, especially economic and security.” He urged the Iraqi government not to be dragged into the escalating tensions between Iran and the Zionist entity.
Othman further noted that while the Iraqi government is actively trying to prevent the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East, the persistent actions of certain factions undermine these efforts. He
highlighted the aggressive nature of the Zionist entity’s military responses in regions like Lebanon and Gaza, which often result in significant human and material losses. Othman warned that Iraq could similarly suffer heavy damages if it were to become a target, thereby destabilizing various sectors within the country.
In his plea, Othman called on the Iraqi government to exert more control over these factions to prevent the war from widening and to safeguard Iraq’s future. His appeal underscores the complexities of Iraq’s position amidst regional conflicts and the importance of maintaining internal and regional stability.
