Baghdad:President of the Republic Nizar Amidi has stressed the significance of enhancing Iraqi-Italian relations and expanding cooperation between the two nations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Amidi received Niccol² Fontana, the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. During their meeting, the President highlighted the need to broaden cooperation and coordination efforts, which would strengthen the existing partnership and create new opportunities in economic, investment, cultural, and educational sectors. He emphasized the importance of harnessing mutual expertise and experience to benefit both countries.

Ambassador Fontana expressed Italy’s strong interest in deepening its relationship with Iraq and affirmed the commitment to continuing joint efforts in areas of shared interest.
