Iraqi Prime Minister and President Stress Importance of Upcoming Elections

Baghdad - Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid held a meeting to discuss the preparations for the upcoming provincial council elections scheduled for December. The Prime Minister’s media office detailed the discussions in a statement.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, During the meeting, both leaders underscored the significance of conducting the elections and ensuring they meet the necessary requirements for success. They highlighted the importance of the election results reflecting the true will of the Iraqi people. The meeting also focused on the need to support the government in its efforts to establish security, stability, and service provision, along with promoting reforms in anti-corruption measures.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the President of the Republic's participation in the joint Arab-Islamic summit in Saudi Arabia, which centered on solidarity with Palestine. The President's speech at the summit called for immediate action to halt aggression against Gaza and the Palestinian people. The outcomes of the meetings conducted by the President with leaders of participating countries were also discussed, noting their positive impact on improving Iraq's regional and international relationships.
