Iraqi Prime Minister Condemns Attack on Qatar as Threat to Regional Security

Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has declared that any targeting of Arab and Islamic countries should be viewed as a threat to shared national security, emphasizing that Israel’s ongoing policies without deterrence will lead to further instability.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, during his address at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit, Prime Minister al-Sudani firmly condemned the attacks undermining the security and stability of the region. He expressed Iraq’s complete solidarity with the State of Qatar, the Palestinian people, and all communities facing aggression, including those in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the assault on Qatar signifies a serious escalation and a breach of international law, jeopardizing efforts to resolve the regional crisis peacefully. He underlined Qatar’s diplomatic mediation efforts and noted that the aggression undermines potential peaceful solutions. Al-Sudani called on international organizations and major powers to take responsibility in preventing actions that harm the international system.

He further advocated for enhancing consultation and coordination mechanisms among countries to ensure a unified response to threats against sovereignty and security. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of activating a joint deterrence system to safeguard regional stability and accused occupation authorities of violating international law principles and the United Nations Charter, thereby exacerbating regional conflicts.
