BAGHDAD: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired a critical meeting today with Diyala’s top officials, including the Governor and members of the Provincial Council, along with the province’s representatives in the House of Representatives. The meeting, held during Al-Sudani’s visit to Diyala, aimed to assess and accelerate service projects essential for the province’s development.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani emphasized the strategic importance of Diyala in maintaining the security and stability of the broader region, including the capital, Baghdad. He highlighted Diyala’s role as a frontline in the fight against terrorism and underscored the need for unity and cooperation among the province’s leadership to enhance governance and service delivery. The Prime Minister pointed out that Diyala and its administrative bodies act as a critical executive arm of the government, complementing the efforts of national ministries.

The meeting also addressed the urgency of advancing infrastru
cture projects, with Al-Sudani noting that completing these delayed projects is a priority for his government. He announced the formation of a committee set to commence next week to monitor the progress on the issues discussed and to provide recommendations to the Council of Ministers. Furthermore, Al-Sudani directed attention towards initiating municipal service projects, such as roads and sidewalks, in areas where infrastructure projects have already been completed, to further enhance the living standards in Diyala.

The gathering highlighted the government’s commitment to regaining and maintaining the trust of the citizens through continuous improvement in service delivery, a testament to the administration’s dedication to governance and public welfare.
