Iraqi Prime Minister Urges Swift Decision on House Speaker Role


BAGHDAD: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani emphasized the urgent need to appoint a Speaker for the House of Representatives, highlighting its significance in bolstering the national legislative framework.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the call for a prompt decision came during a meeting with the Azm Alliance delegation led by Muthanna Abdul Samad Al-Samarrai. The discussions covered various national and regional issues and underscored the importance of unity among political forces to support the government’s objectives and enhance public trust in the political system.

Al-Sudani pointed out that choosing a Speaker is critical among the constitutional entitlements that need to be addressed. He expressed his support for all efforts aimed at fulfilling this vital legislative role. The meeting also touched on the unified stance of Iraqis concerning the recent Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon. Al-Sudani stated that the government’s position reflects the unified view of Iraq’s political, reli
gious, and constitutional authorities, focusing on the nation’s interest and supporting Palestine and Lebanon politically, media-wise, and humanitarianly.
