Baghdad: The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu’man, confirmed during a press conference held today by the Security Media Cell that the security forces are working to preserve the country’s sovereignty.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Nu’man stated that the international coalition’s mission will end on September 30th and is irreversible. This timeline was determined with high professionalism by committees within the security agencies. He noted the accelerated withdrawal of international coalition forces, paving the way for Iraq to celebrate its national day and transition to security agreements with other countries.

He indicated that the armed forces are capable of maintaining Iraq’s security, each within its area of responsibility. He emphasized the government’s commitment to regulating weapons under state control and commended the armed factions for their past role in combating terrorism. He added that the government is now working to regulate weapons.

He said that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces emphasizes coordination among security agencies and ending the militarization of society. He praised the national media for its support of the armed forces, stating that sectarian rhetoric and rumors will not be tolerated and that those who promote them will be held accountable under the law.

He affirmed that September 30th marks the sovereignty and control of the country, and that any weapons outside the state’s control are prohibited. He added that dialogues are underway with armed factions regarding the surrender and regulation of weapons.

He added that the Counter-Terrorism Service is a national service linked to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. It has specific plans and a new commander who works with the other officers to support the service in its operations.
