Iraqi Sovereignty Day Announced with Coalition Forces’ Withdrawal


Baghdad: The spokesman for the Popular Mobilization Forces, Muhannad al-Aqabi, announced that September 30th will be marked as Iraqi Sovereignty Day, coinciding with the withdrawal of coalition forces. This declaration was made during a press conference held by the Security Media Cell.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Aqabi confirmed plans to celebrate the occasion a week before the international coalition forces depart from Iraq. He emphasized that the Popular Mobilization Forces play a crucial role within the security establishment and are effectively fulfilling their responsibilities. In recent days, the forces have carried out significant security operations in regions such as the Makhoul Mountains, Anbar, the Karbala desert, among others.



Al-Aqabi also noted the ongoing efforts to organize and disarm certain factions that have expressed their intention to surrender their weapons.
