Baghdad: Iraqi officials and analysts assert that the Israeli aggression against Qatar is a flagrant violation of sovereignty and international law. Iraqi officials and analysts affirmed Iraq’s full support for the State of Qatar in confronting the Israeli aggression that targeted the residential headquarters of a number of Hamas leaders in Doha, stressing that this attack represents a violation of Qatari sovereignty and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, they stressed the need for the emergency Arab-Islamic summit, to be held in Doha the day after tomorrow, Monday, to become a strong platform for confronting the aggression and enhancing security and stability. They called on the Arab and international community to take a firm stance to confront these aggressive acts.
For his part, Dr. Hussein Allawi, advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister, affirmed that the Iraqi government’s position on the aggression against Doha was mirrored by the position of His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, the Iraqi Prime Minister, who immediately condemned the attack and expressed the solidarity of Iraq, both government and people, with Qatar against the Israeli aggression, which constituted a violation of Qatari sovereignty and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.
In the same context, Mazen al-Zaidi, head of the Iraqi Masar Center for Studies, said that the aggression targeting Doha is condemned and denounced, noting that the Qatari leadership has made efforts to end the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza.
Al-Zaidi explained that this attack represents an extension of the ongoing aggression against Gaza and all those who support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, but it will not undermine Qatar’s Arab standing or international influence. He added that the convening of the Arab-Islamic summit in Doha represents a key moment for expressing solidarity with Qatar, which has always stood by Arab and Islamic causes.
He stressed that Israeli threats are no longer limited to Gaza and Palestine, but have also extended to other Arab and Islamic countries, which requires everyone to stand with Qatar and support it in confronting the aggression, as it targets the stability and interests of the entire nation.
Iraqi MP Yasser al-Husseini also viewed the Arab Summit as a historic test for bold decisions, calling on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to exert greater pressure on the international community to curb the “arrogance” of the Israeli entity and affirming his solidarity with Qatar in confronting the aggression.
