Baghdad: The Federal Integrity Commission has invited Transparency International to establish a national office in Baghdad, according to a statement released on Friday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission of Integrity stated that Commission Chairman Mohammed Ali Al-Lami met with Transparency International President Francois Valerian on the sidelines of the 11th Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption in Doha, Qatar.

Al-Lami expressed readiness to provide necessary support for the organization's work in Iraq, highlighting the country's desire for effective partnership. He praised Transparency International's professionalism and its role in promoting transparency in Iraq.

Valerian welcomed the invitation, emphasizing his organization's commitment to combating corruption and developing cooperation with Iraq. He noted the commission's oversight role and efforts to address conflict of interest and illicit enrichment.

The meeting also discussed adopting Iraq's National Integrity System, finalized by the commission in cooperation with Transparency International. The organization's representatives pledged to expedite the process.
