Baghdad: Iraq’s Interior Minister, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting sports and youth, stressing the importance of providing all means to develop sports clubs. He noted that sports serve as a bridge for communication among nations and a tool for strengthening bonds of brotherhood.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry said in a statement that Al-Shammari received, at his office today, the President of both the Arab and Qatari Police Sports Federations, Major General Khalid bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, along with his accompanying delegation, in the presence of a number of senior ministry officials.
The statement added that the meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in the sports field to achieve common goals.
For his part, Al-Attiyah praised the Interior Minister’s efforts in supporting sports activities, emphasizing that the Arab Police Sports Federation constantly seeks to nurture athletic talents from the ranks of the army and police and provide an environment that enables them to showcase their abilities.
