Baghdad: The Ministry of Education in Iraq has announced that it anticipates approximately 1.2 million students will enroll in the first grade of primary school for the upcoming academic year.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry’s press release highlighted that the new academic year, set to commence on September 20th, 2026, will see a significant number of students born between 2020 and January 2021 starting their educational journey. The Ministry emphasized that this anticipated enrollment figure is comparable to last year’s numbers and stands as one of the highest recorded in the recent history of the Republic of Iraq.
