Baghdad – Iraq's National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, revealed that the Syrian Al-Hol camp is currently housing terrorists from 60 different countries, including a significant number from Iraq and Syria. Al-Araji made this announcement during the Seventh Ambassadors Conference held in Baghdad from November 4-8.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Al-Hol camp contains around 10,000 foreign terrorists. He discussed Iraq's strategic decision to transfer Iraqi nationals from the Al-Hol camp to Al-Jadaa camp within Iraq, where they undergo integration and rehabilitation programs. This initiative, aimed at bolstering Iraqi national security, has already seen the transfer of 1,567 families in 11 batches to Al-Jadaa camp.
Al-Araji also noted that 900 Iraqi families have been successfully rehabilitated and reintegrated into their original areas from Al-Jadaa camp. Additionally, he stated that 2,945 Iraqis accused of terrorism were transferred to the Ministry of Interior to face legal proceedings, with most of them tried under Iraqi laws.
Furthermore, Al-Araji highlighted the establishment of a national intelligence council and joint coordination areas between the forces of the Ministry of Defense and the Peshmerga. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to promote national security and efficient operation without any issues.
He also touched upon the relocation of Iranian opposition militants to remote areas, with border forces and the Peshmerga taking over their previous positions. The next phase involves placing these militants in special, remote camps.
Al-Araji emphasized the distribution of intelligence work fields by the National Security Advisory to prevent overlap in tasks and responsibilities. He also mentioned the close coordination between the National Security Advisory and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on key issues, underscoring the pivotal role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in representing Iraq to the world.
