Iraq’s Sovereignty Day Paves Way for Investment and Economic Reforms

Baghdad:September 30 marks a historic milestone for Iraq, symbolizing the completion of national sovereignty and the withdrawal of all foreign forces. This development is expected to positively influence Iraq’s ability to attract foreign investment and enhance economic growth.

According to the Iraqi News Agency, Member of Parliament Nasser Turki emphasized that this day signifies a new era for Iraq in terms of attracting foreign investment opportunities. The government’s strategic plans will prioritize the service, economic, industrial, and agricultural sectors, aligning them with the interests of the Iraqi people.

Lieutenant General Saad Maan, Head of the Security Media Cell, highlighted that Sovereignty Day opens a new chapter in Iraq’s international relations, based on shared interests. He underscored the importance of establishing firm sovereignty to unify security decisions and enhance the capabilities of security forces in enforcing the law and protecting citizens.

Economic expert Safwan Qusay pointed out that the declaration of National Sovereignty Day will bolster Iraq’s capacity to attract investments by reinforcing state authority and the rule of law. He stressed the need for a secure environment and financial independence to draw investors, free from internal or external interference.

Kovind Shirwani, another economic expert, noted that the Iraqi government aims to create a stable environment for both foreign and domestic investments. Efforts are underway to attract investments in energy, electricity, and infrastructure, supported by the Prime Minister’s international engagements.

Economic expert Ahmed Abdul Rabba emphasized that full national sovereignty presents an opportunity to focus on economic priorities, such as diversifying the economy and developing infrastructure. He stated that achieving sustainable growth requires institutional reforms, legal guarantees, and a competitive business environment to fully leverage Iraq’s resources and strategic location.
