ISIS Member Arrested After Infiltration Through Al-Ba’aj District

Mosul: Security forces in Nineveh arrested a member of the terrorist organization ISIS who had infiltrated through Al-Ba'aj district, west of Mosul, coming from Syria.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a Nineveh police source stated that the detainee was planning to carry out terrorist activities within the province. The source explained that security forces affiliated with the Nineveh Operations Command, in coordination with intelligence agencies, were able to arrest the terrorist as he attempted to infiltrate across the Iraqi-Syrian border. He was spotted in the Al-Baaj area.

The source added that security forces were able to quickly locate him, pursue him, and arrest him after a limited clash. The arrested terrorist was immediately transferred to the headquarters of the Nineveh Operations Command for the necessary investigations. Initial investigations indicate that the terrorist was planning to join sleeper cells in the area, and that he was carrying documents indicating organizational ties with ISIS cells.
