Israel Announces Receipt of Remains of a New Prisoner, Bringing the Total to 14

Baghdad: Israel announced this evening, Monday, that it had received the body of a new prisoner from the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip, bringing the number of bodies received by Tel Aviv to 14. This announcement was made public through a statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which was published on his official account on the American company “X” platform.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Netanyahu’s office stated that Israel received a coffin containing the remains of a deceased kidnapped person via the Red Cross. The coffin was handed over to an Israeli army and Shin Bet force inside the Gaza Strip. Following the handover, the coffin will be transported to Israel, where the body will be transferred to the National Center for Forensic Medicine under the Ministry of Health. Once the identification process is completed, the family of the deceased will be officially notified.

Since the agreement began, Hamas has released 20 living Israeli prisoners and the remains of 14 out of 28, with most being Israeli. However, Israel claims that the remaining number is 15, arguing that one of the bodies received does not match any of its prisoners. Hamas has stated its intention to “close the file” but indicates that it requires time, advanced equipment, and heavy machinery to retrieve the remaining bodies.

The agreement between Hamas and Israel aimed to halt the war of extermination in Gaza and included the release of living and dead Israeli prisoners, as well as 1,968 Palestinian prisoners. This plan was developed based on a proposal by US President Donald Trump.
