TEL AVIV: The Israeli army has confirmed that an airstrike was conducted by the Israeli Air Force on a Hezbollah weapons storage facility in southern Lebanon. The operation took place after Israeli soldiers observed Hezbollah personnel transferring weapons to a nearby vehicle, as reported by the Jerusalem Post.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority disclosed plans for the Israeli military to withdraw from the western sector of Lebanon. This withdrawal will occur in coordination with an American monitoring mechanism. In the wake of the withdrawal, the Israeli army intends to establish military positions opposite each Israeli settlement along the border.

Israel Hayom, citing Israeli military sources, reported that the decision to maintain an Israeli military presence in Lebanon post-ceasefire is political. The army’s focus remains on retaining strategic positions within Lebanon, despite the planned withdrawal.

Meanwhile, French Defense Minister S©bastien Lecornu, during a visit with the French Foreign Minister to Deir Kifa in southern Lebanon, addressed the ongoing ceasefire. He noted its effectiveness and called for the preservation of the agreement. Lecornu emphasized the importance of allowing time for the ceasefire to take full effect, noting that the French-American mechanism has successfully processed nearly 300 complaints, demonstrating its efficacy.

The ceasefire agreement outlines that the Lebanese army and UN peacekeeping forces will be deployed in southern Lebanon in conjunction with the Israeli army’s withdrawal, which is expected to be completed within 60 days.
