Haifa: The Israeli army announced on Wednesday the interception of a missile launched from Yemen, following the activation of warning sirens in several regions across Israel, including Haifa and other northern areas. The army indicated that an interceptor missile was deployed and is believed to have successfully intercepted the incoming threat.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Israeli ambulance service has reported that its teams are attending to several Israelis who sustained injuries while seeking shelter. The ongoing conflict has seen the Yemeni Houthi Ansar Allah group, which holds control over the most heavily populated parts of Yemen, continue their missile and drone attacks on Israel as a demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.

Since March 15, US military forces have conducted numerous airstrikes in Yemen, resulting in the deaths of at least 120 civilians and injuries to 256 others, including many children and women. These operations were initiated following an order from US President Donald Trump for a “major offensive” against the Houthi group, coupled with a threat to “completely eliminate” them.

The conflict between the United States and the Houthis has intensified since mid-March, prompted by the Houthi group’s declaration to resume its prohibition on Israeli ships navigating the Red and Arabian Seas, expressing their support for Palestinians in Gaza.
