Beirut: An Israeli army spokesperson announced ongoing attacks on Hezbollah positions in various parts of Lebanon. The strikes are reportedly targeting key areas associated with Hezbollah’s activities within the region.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Lebanese media has reported that two Israeli airstrikes specifically targeted buildings in the town of Sahmar, located in the Western Bekaa Valley of eastern Lebanon. These airstrikes were preceded by intensive overflights by Israeli drones, which flew at low altitudes over Sahmar. The Israeli military also issued warnings before the attacks, indicating the strikes were imminent.
In addition to the attacks on Sahmar, the Israeli army has threatened to target what it refers to as Hezbollah’s “military infrastructure” in the village of Mashghara. The military has demanded that residents evacuate nearby buildings immediately, citing potential risks. Residents were warned to maintain a distance of at least 300 meters from specific locations identified on distributed maps, with the assertion that remaining in these areas could pose immediate danger to their lives.
The Israeli army’s messages indicated that these actions are a response to what they described as Hezbollah’s “illegal military reconstitution attempts” in the region. These developments underscore the tension between Israel and Hezbollah, with potential implications for the broader stability of the area.
