Israeli Forces Raid UNRWA Headquarters in Sheikh Jarrah

Al-quds: Israeli occupation forces have reportedly raided the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Quds. The Al-Quds Governorate has confirmed that the forces conducted searches within the premises and confiscated the mobile phones of security personnel stationed there.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Governorate has condemned the raid, labeling it a violation of international law and an infringement on the sanctity of United Nations institutions. The raid is said to be part of a broader series of actions taken by settlers and members of the Israeli Knesset following the occupation government’s decision on January 30 to ban UNRWA’s operations in East Quds.

The Al-Quds Governorate has reaffirmed its support for the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion, which asserts that Israel does not have sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, including al-Quds. The city is considered an integral part of UNRWA’s operational areas. The Governorate has called upon the international community to oppose the recent Israeli decisions, viewing them as mechanisms to further entrench occupation and oppression against the Palestinian people.
