Istanbul: Istanbul will host the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on June 21.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Saudi city of Jeddah will host a preparatory meeting next Tuesday for the event that Turkey will host in June. Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz will lead the Turkish delegation at this preparatory meeting, which will be spearheaded by the Cameroonian delegation.

OIC Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha is expected to deliver a speech at the preparatory meeting, alongside a speech by the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister. The meeting will be held at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah. Senior officials from the 57 member states will discuss draft resolutions on the agenda and review reports that define the general policy and principles of the organization.

The draft resolutions discussed at the preparatory meeting will be submitted for approval by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC member states. Turkey is expected to assume the rotating presidency of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for one year during the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC in Istanbul next June.

Turkey has previously hosted meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC in 1976, 1991, and 2004. The OIC Council of Foreign Ministers adopts resolutions on issues of concern to Muslim communities, particularly the situation in Gaza, Syria, Cyprus, and Muslim minorities.
