The Council of Ministers held its thirty-eighth session, today, Tuesday, headed by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, during which various topics and files were followed up and discussed, in the political, economic and security aspects, and a review of the service performance of state agencies, and the progress of implementing the government program according to its priorities, in addition to discussing what is on the agenda and taking the necessary decisions regarding it.
A statement by the Prime Minister’s Office stated that: “Within the government’s sponsorship of sports activities, and the victory achieved in the Paralympic Games arena, the Council of Ministers approved granting the winners of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, distinctive residential plots with an area of (200 m2) in their hometown, with the exception of the condition of submitting a pledge not to benefit previously, as well as granting the winners a monthly financial grant for a period of (10) years starting from the date of the fir
st grant, and this grant is renewed whenever they achieve a new achievement, at a rate of (750 thousand dinars) for the first place winner, (700 thousand dinars) for the second place winner, and (650 thousand dinars) for the third place winner.
Within the framework of supporting and operating the various categories, the Council of Ministers approved the rental of the marketing complexes (kiosks) mentioned in Cabinet Resolution (340 of 2019) in Baghdad and all governorates, to (the unemployed registered in the database of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, who are not covered by the care amount, and those covered by the grants, provided that they cut Grants for them, and those covered by the Riyada Initiative) with an appropriate allowance according to a legal mechanism and controls set by the aforementioned ministry.
In continuation of the government’s approach to developing laws related to combating drugs, the Council approved the draft law amending the first law of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Su
bstances Law No. (50) of 2017, which was reviewed by the State Council, and referred to the House of Representatives based on the provisions of the Constitution, taking into account the observations of the Legal Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
In this regard, the Prime Minister stressed the need for this amendment, which includes raising the level of the Department of Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, so that it can confront this dangerous scourge, pointing to the government’s tireless efforts in this regard, and supporting its relevant agencies in Baghdad and the governorates, in a manner that is commensurate with the size of this problem that threatens all societies.
In the service sector, the session witnessed the hosting of Mr. Mayor of Baghdad to discuss the project to implement the main transmission line for northeastern sewage water (Al-Khansa Line) with a treatment unit and a lifting station with a capacity of 200 thousand m3 today.

inisters voted to consider the implementation and establishment of the transmission line for the lifting and treatment station as a spare part to be added in the form of additional works to the transmission line implementation project, with the Baghdad Municipality taking all measures and guarantees to ensure that the implementing company is committed to completing the work assigned to it on time, provided that the implementing company waives the lawsuit currently filed against the Baghdad Municipality.
Based on the recommendation of the Ministerial Council for the Economy, the Council of Ministers approved amending the price of the industrial oil product to become (1000 dinars/liter) instead of (1200 dinars/liter), provided that the price is reviewed after one year starting from the date of issuance of this decision based on an economic study.
