Judge Faiq Zaidan: The Federal Court did not violate the Constitution in its decisions and is keen to implement it

Baghdad The Head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, confirmed that the Federal Court did not violate the Constitution in its decisions, and is keen to implement it.

In a televised statement, he said: The circumstances surrounding the drafting of the constitution for 2005 are completely different from now, as some provisions of the constitution need amendments.

Zaidan stressed: Parliament was unsuccessful in implementing some provisions of the constitution.

He explained: There is a constitutional imbalance in the issue of the balance between the executive and legislative authorities, and there are calls for the judiciary to intervene to solve the political crisis, and this is not true.

Zaidan added that the Federal Court, whether current or previous, interprets the constitution according to a purely legal vision.

He stressed: The Federal Court, with its new formation, has opened the way for political forces to ally themselves and present the largest bloc.
