Baghdad: The Supreme Judicial Council has announced that the First Karkh Investigation Court has completed the initial interrogation of over 500 ISIS suspects who were transferred from Syrian prisons.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the President of the Baghdad/Karkh Court of Appeals, Judge Khalid al-Mashhadani, along with the First Investigation Court Judge, Ali Hussein Jafat, conducted a field visit to the investigation site. This visit was aimed at monitoring the progress of legal and investigative procedures for the ISIS suspects now in Iraq.
The First Karkh Investigation Court has completed the initial interrogation of more than 500 defendants. Among these, 157 juveniles under the age of 18 have been identified and separated. Their investigative files have been referred to the Karkh Juvenile Investigation Court. The juveniles have been placed in rehabilitation centers to ensure they are treated in accordance with legal and humanitarian standards.
The total number of defendants is reported to have reached 5,704, with individuals hailing from 61 different nationalities.
