Judiciary Denies Issuing International Arrest Warrant Against Former Interior Minister

Baghdad: The judiciary has refuted claims regarding the issuance of an international arrest warrant against former Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council has firmly denied that an international arrest warrant exists for al-Shammari. The Council’s Media Center observed a social media post circulating a red notice allegedly from Interpol, calling for the extradition of al-Shammari and mistakenly attributed to the Public Prosecution Office. The Council clarified that the document in question is both forged and false.

The Supreme Judicial Council has issued a warning against participating in such unlawful activities, emphasizing that individuals found responsible for creating or distributing these forged documents will face legal consequences.
