Judiciary Issues Life Sentence to ISIS Member in Iraq

Baghdad: The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Wednesday the issuance of a judicial ruling sentencing a member of the ISIS terrorist group to life imprisonment.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the PMF stated that the sentence was delivered by the competent court of the PMF following efforts by its Investigations and Preventive Security Directorate, which is part of the General Directorate of Security and Discipline. The ruling came after the completion of comprehensive legal and investigative procedures against the individual.

The investigations revealed that the convicted individual was a member of ISIS Wilayah Fallujah and served as a supervisor of ISIS schools in the Nissaf area within the Nissaf sector. His involvement in terrorist activities was confirmed through thorough evidentiary and legal procedures.

The statement further detailed that the individual was arrested and referred to the competent court, which subsequently handed down the life imprisonment sentence in accordance with the law, after establishing his guilt.

Moreover, the PMF affirmed that its General Directorate of Security and Discipline will persist in conducting security and intelligence operations to pursue ISIS members and sleeper cells. This ongoing effort aims to bring individuals before the judiciary, thereby supporting security, stability, and the protection of civilians in Iraq.
