Baghdad: The National Center for International Judicial Cooperation revealed today joint coordination with the Swedish authorities to dismantle a number of criminal networks linked to drug smuggling and trafficking.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the judicial investigator and international cooperation official at the National Center for International Judicial Cooperation, Ali Diaa, stated, "There is joint cooperation with the Swedish side on files related to combating drugs." He highlighted that the Iraqi authorities, in coordination with Sweden, have succeeded in dismantling multiple criminal networks.

Diaa pointed out that the crime in the Al-Amiriya area, executed by a Swedish national, involved a gang with Iraqi individuals holding Swedish citizenship. He mentioned that the case remains under consideration in the relevant courts and is linked to multiple networks. The cooperation with the Swedish authorities continues to unfold the details.

He further explained that the Swedish suspect will be tried in Iraq following his arrest, as the crimes were committed on Iraqi territory. There is also a possibility of receiving legal assistance requests from Sweden to provide Iraq with additional information to support the case.
