Justice Minister and Lebanese Ambassador Discuss Prisoner Exchange Agreement


Baghdad: Iraqi Justice Minister Khalid Shawani met with the Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq, Khalil Abdullah, to discuss activating the prisoner exchange agreement between Baghdad and Beirut.



According to Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the ministry highlighted that the meeting took place at the ministry headquarters, where both officials explored ways to enhance cooperation between the two nations. The discussions focused on the mechanisms for implementing the prisoner exchange agreement, following its ratification by the Iraqi Parliament. This agreement aims to initiate procedures for transferring prisoners between the two countries, thereby strengthening bilateral cooperation and underscoring the humanitarian dimensions of the agreement.



The statement further mentioned that both parties stressed the importance of advancing bilateral relations and expanding joint cooperation areas. This collaboration is intended to consolidate fraternal ties and serve the common interests of Iraq and Lebanon.
