Baghdad:Minister of Justice Dr. Khalid Shwani met with U.S. Charg© d’Affaires Stephen Fagin to discuss issues of mutual interest, including the transfer of foreign prisoners from Syria to Iraq and enhancing legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting addressed mechanisms for cooperation and coordination on the foreign prisoners’ file. The focus was on handling the issue within established legal frameworks and procedures, ensuring compliance with Iraqi laws and international obligations.

Fagin expressed gratitude to the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Justice for their role in the transfer of foreign prisoners. He highlighted that the United States is coordinating with its partners to support Iraq, thereby strengthening joint efforts between Baghdad and Washington.
