Baghdad: The Ministry of Justice announced on Monday the release of 181 juveniles during June 2026.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the ministry's statement revealed that the released juveniles include 113 who were detained, 30 who completed their sentences, and 31 who were granted parole due to good behavior and successful completion of rehabilitation courses. This decision was made following recommendations from the Social Research Department and with approval from the relevant judicial authorities. Furthermore, 3 juveniles benefited from a general amnesty, while 4 were released due to a discriminatory decision.
The ministry emphasized that the Department of Corrections and Juveniles maintains its commitment to professional and responsible practices, ensuring thorough monitoring of inmates' files and adherence to legal and humanitarian procedures in the release mechanism.
