Baghdad: The Juvenile Reform Department at the Ministry of Justice announced on Monday the release of 189 juveniles during the month of July.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the department detailed in a press release that 108 of the juveniles were released from detention, 41 had completed their sentences, and 37 were granted parole. The parole was given for good behavior and successful completion of rehabilitation programs and courses, with recommendations from the social research divisions and approval from the relevant judicial authorities.

The press release further indicated that the release procedures included two juveniles who were covered by a general amnesty and one juvenile whose case was successfully appealed. This comprehensive release effort led to a total of 189 juveniles being released in July.
