Karbala: The Governor of Holy Karbala, Engineer Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi, met with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, during the ambassador’s official visit to the province. The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation and topics of mutual interest.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Governor Al-Khattabi emphasized that Karbala is not merely a city, but a global symbol of humanity and the values of coexistence. He noted that it embraces all sects and beliefs, drawing its spirit from the principles of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

He added that Karbala transcends its geographic and demographic boundaries, receiving more than 85 million visitors annually from around the world-making it a truly global city by every standard.

For his part, Ambassador Siddiq expressed his pleasure in visiting Karbala, describing it as a ‘unique and exceptional city’ that has witnessed significant development across various sectors.

He affirmed that his visit conveys a message of respect and appreciation from the British government and people to the holy shrines, the Iraqi government, and the local administration in Holy Karbala. He also commended their efforts in managing a city of such scale and providing services to millions of pilgrims.
