Karbala: Police units in the holy city of Karbala arrested a man in his possession of drugs and an unlicensed firearm.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the police command indicated that, based on precise intelligence, emergency police patrols formed a team to set up an ambush in the Al-Jair area after receiving information about a man possessing drugs.

The statement added that at 4:00 AM, the suspect was spotted riding a small blue motorcycle. Upon seeing police patrols, he attempted to flee through the area’s alleyways, but the officers pursued and apprehended him. Various types of narcotics, a Colombian-made pistol, and 300,000 Iraqi dinars were found in his possession. He and the seized items were handed over to the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances for legal proceedings.
