Baghdad: The Karkh Criminal Court issued a seven-year prison sentence for two women convicted of human trafficking.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Judicial Council stated that the convict, identified as the mother, sold her child daughter in collaboration with another convict for twenty million dinars in an area of the capital, Baghdad. The ruling was issued against them based on the provisions of Articles 6/First and Fifth of the Anti-Human Trafficking Law No. 28 of 2012. The decision also considered Articles 47, 48, and 49 of the Penal Code on participation, with reference to the provisions of Article 132/2.
