Khaled El-Balshy Secures New Term as Head of Egyptian Journalists Syndicate

Cairo: The Judicial Committee overseeing the elections of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate announced that journalist Khaled El-Balshy has been elected as the head of the syndicate for a new term.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Counselor Basem El-Tayeb, head of the Judicial Committee, confirmed that El-Balshy secured 3,346 votes, accounting for 55 percent of the total. His opponent, journalist Abdel Mohsen Salama, garnered 2,562 votes.

The election saw the participation of 6,051 journalists, out of a total of 10,132 eligible members of the syndicate.
